Google Chrome no longer has a menu bar, per se, but instead relies on the vertical ellipsis three dots on the far right of the address bar. Subscribe to Confident Computing!

I really miss it. Can you help me restore it, or create a new one? Thanks, John Petaluma, CA. I found it…by pressing F11…the tip you gave first, naturally. What were they thinking? I teach Seniors computer classes and I guarantee they accidentally do this one … and then panic. Please help. Thanks Lee. Yes this got my tool bar, and menu bar both back up for me. I looked all in my books I have on using a PC, and found nothing that was of any use for me.
Thanks for this information, and I do appreciate you posting this for us who need it. Thank you, Leo, it worked for me. It worked in Firefox. I was cleaning the dust off my laptop and suddenly everything was gone, tabs, toolbars … The only thing that would come up was yahoo and that was full screen. I found Ask Leo and tried several buttons and having no solutions, but then f11 worked suddenly. Thank you, thank you Leo. Thanks so much.
I got it back and was able to fix something else that was a major problem. I can also finally clean up my cookies file. Many thanks, Leo! Thank You! I was not able to find how to print stuff with the new bar. And then today you pulled up and within minutes my familiar tool bar is back AND I just printed this article using it! You are a blessing to my personal harmony!!! I tried it all. F 11 just made the screen jump around a bit, right click on favorites onny brought uphowing navigation bar size of icons, default office home mobile and customize the icons offered by msn.
Ineed to get to the tool click on to get to internet options to fix a problem. Can I just download a more appropriate task bar that has what I need. Thanks, F11 got back menu options. Even Microsoft Support site did not mention about this. Leo, I was wondering, after you delete your history on the places you visited, how do you get them back?
Is this something new? You can, should to so wish, upgrade to Version 4 for free by simply downloading and installing it. Incidentally - are you running the 32 bit version of IE? Norton does not support the toolbar in the 64bit version of IE. In Win 7 64bit there are 2 versions of Internet Explorer - a 32 bit and a 64 bit. If you run the 32 bit version you will have your Norton Toolbar. Here is an article addressing the issue of Internet Explorer.
The article is for Vista but, as the writer points out, it applies equally to Windows 7. I clicked on the shortcut on the taskbar and Internet Explorer opened up. I still have no toolbar in IE8, but I do have one in Firefox 3. Click on the Start button then All Programs and you should see 2 Internet Explorers in the list, one of these is a 32bit version which will, when used, show the Norton Toolbar..
I will say this again I use the one that is attatched to the taskbar. I click on it and Internet Explorer opens and I still see no taskbar. The instance on the Taskbar is the 64bit version of Internet Explorer.
The picture I have attached is from a Win 7 64 Bit system and shows the 2 instances of Internet Explorer. One is clearly shown as the 64 bit version and the other instance below it is the 32 bit version that you need to use if you want to have the Norton Tollbar available. I use the one on the taskbar since it is easier to find than the one in the taskbar and that is the entire point of using the one on the taskbar so you will not have to go and look for it everytime you want to use it and I still have no toolbar.
This is not getting resolved any time soon so that tells me that I need to look somewhere else for a solution. Have you tried mdturner's suggestion to open the bit version just to see if the Norton Toolbar appears? If doing so solves the problem it is very simple to pin the bit IE to the taskbar so you can continue to open the browser in this fashion.
The Norton Toolbar simply does not work with the bit IE, as is true of many other browser add-ons. I use which ever one is on he taskbar. I don't know if it is bit bit or bit it is the one that is on the taskbar so that way I do not have to search for a browser everytime I want to use one. You can add and delete anything you want from Windows 7's taskbar and Quick Launch bar. Find centralized, trusted content and collaborate around the technologies you use most.
Connect and share knowledge within a single location that is structured and easy to search. But because this option is ie wide it's applied to every BHO, toolbar and ActiveX , it's not a viable workaround. You will have to wait until the toolbar programmers release a 64 bit version. I'm trying to update a 32 bits IE toolbar to work under Win 8. You create a shortcut. However, this shortcut does not work correctly when you click the shortcut under the Favorites menu on the menu bar in Windows Explorer. In this situation, your homepage is displayed in the new Internet Explorer window instead of the specified URL.
This issue does not occur when you click the shortcut from the Favorites button on the toolbar in Internet Explorer 8.
