This is kind of a pain but Then in Word go to Tools, Options, click the General tab, remove the check from the "recently used" setting, click OK.
I you turn the recently used list back on it's empty. In the Display area, click to select the number of files in the Show this number of Recent Documentslist. To modify the registry key and to clear the most recently used files list in a program in Office, follow these steps.
