Windows in noahs arc
But in my opinion, more likely it was a ventilation opening that was under the eaves of the ark, but possibly protected from running awash by scuppers. Jim Brenneman is a long-time biblical creationist — searching the Scriptures for the legitimate simple sense of the inspired accounts of the origins of all things. He travels the world to introduce Christians and their leaders to all areas of the Bible, from Hebrew to the science demonstrating God's accurate account of earth's past.
Thanks William. It shows that the design of the Ark was real — and it was in fact a viable sea-worthy vessel for preseving life. Likewise, the Salvation of God is real — and it is in fact a real means to give us light and life in the midst of a present evil world of darkness and death. You have read a different Bible than I have! There is no mention of a second window, period.
A window in the side of the ark could not be sealed if it was meant to be opened. The ark was sealed within and without with pitch to make sure it was water proof. As a symbol of the sealing of the believer by the Holy Spirit would mean that there is one way in though Christ and one way out, going up.
There are not two ways to reach heaven. So sorry John, that you feel my Bible is different from yours. The first is found in chapter six:. A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above ; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof;. Indeed, this theology of reward and punishment is pervasive in our Torah.
I do not believe in a connect-the-dots-deity. I believe that whenever we claim to know cause and effect, we do so with arrogance and hubris. Years ago, I had a dream. It was more like a night vision. I imagined a tailor in the forest working long into the night by the light of a single candle with only a simple needle and thread.
And I thought, if only I could learn to sew, I could mend my life. I searched for its meaning. And then I found the metaphor. Our lives are like a tapestry. There is a vague picture, and with needle and thread we fill in the colors one stitch at a time. When we feel strong, we see on the front side the picture of who we are, and the trajectory of our life materializes.
Either way, it is ours to create, to see, and to decipher. Then there is another cloth: deep, exquisite black velvet. Beautiful, shimmering with life but opaque.
That is God, or rather the mystery. The many flood myths are retellings of the real event that have been distorted through centuries of passing down information. The earliest records of the event date back two millennia before Jesus was born.
For more information about other flood traditions, check out World Flood Myths. In the past century, dozens of individuals have claimed to have located the ark. Most of these modern searches have focused on Mount Ararat in Eastern Turkey.
In , photographs of the northwest side of Mount Ararat were taken by a United States intelligence agency. A large structure can be seen jutting out of the ice and snow. However, the object in the images may be nothing more than a natural rock formation. George Hagopian claimed that when he was a young boy in , his uncle took him up Mount Ararat to the Ahora Gorge area.
Hagopian said they found a large ship, and he walked on its roof. Another proposed location is the Durupinar Formation. It was popularized by Ron Wyatt, who claimed to have found numerous artifacts in the vicinity to corroborate his claims. In the past century, dozens of individuals have claimed to have located the Ark.
But how does the popular story compare with what the Bible says? Gen Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground. But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.
The dove is a symbol of the Holy Spirit spirit of God and He is always moving on the face of the earth looking for a place to rest. The dove could not find a place to rest. Noah had to put forth his hand and take her, and pull her in to the ark. The window was the only place where Noah would open for illumination; place of interaction with the heavens and for the dove to come in. Since faith comes only by hearing, the window is our ears which open our heart then soul and body.
The light is the word of God. Like Noah in the ark, it was upon him to determine how much illumination he wanted by controlling the window of the ark.
If you open your window widely, you will receive a great total light intensity which will shine to all corners of your house the body and no darkness will be found in you because light cannot dwell with darkness.
After light shines in the whole house body , it is when it starts to radiate to others through you. You cannot radiate light preach or teach the word without you having enough light in yourself. Sometimes the light inside becomes so little that it is insignificant.
The more you allow the word in you the more illuminated you became, the more Christ-like Christian you be.
